Squats are out, but what kind of leg exercises can i do now? i don't want my legs looking puny cause i can't work them, and afraid to wear shorts like alot of these fitness dudes on youtube...this is upsetting

I have a similar situation in my right knee and I am able to do deads and for squats I use a smith machine or squat press machine. In addition knee sleeves have been a help in keeping my knees stable considering I have a lot of damage to cartilage in both knees due to playing sports and running.

There's some treatments that do cartilage replacement/repair which can delay the need for knee replacement.

    Here's one article on that:

I am looking at getting such treatments as well as I am an active person and knee replacements might not last long for me. Hopefully insurance will cover such treatments.
